I received a phone call from a potential client who has a large room. He spoke to another theater designer who gave him quite a considerable quote to do his theater. I told him that we can certainly come in well below the other designers quote.

He like our Universal Theme, specifically #4, as it appears on our website. So here is our initial rendering..it's quite a large theater and hopefully it will become a reality.

Frank Lloyd Wright inspired Home Theater Design

I'm in contact with a potential client in Japan who is in the process of building a home inspired by Frank Lloyd Wrights famous Falling Water house.

We are currently reviewing several ideas for his Home Theater and in doing so I created a new design called Wright Angles. The art for this design was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wrights stained glass imagery.

Custom Decorative Acoustic Panels

Just sent this rendering to a client of their potential theater design. He wanted to see how the Angled Curves design looked in his theater. It's very long and narrow theater (25'x10') so I wasn't sure if the panels would overwhelm the overall design, but it looks pretty good even with the 4'x6' panels that I'm showing in the rendering.

For the back of the theater I'm added 3 movie poster acoustic panels. I think this breaks up the design a bit so the room doesn't look too redundant. They also add a nice cinematic feel to the room.

Art Deco Home Theater Design

Just shipped this job using our "Chrysler" panels. For those people familiar with the Art Deco style, this particular design is quite iconic...but the question is, can you guess where the design originally comes from. I had originally created a design that was similar to this, but this specific design was created for a project in New Jersey. We used different colors for that project, but this particular project reverted back to the original colors.
I have also seen a very similar decor on a cruise ship that we were on several years ago.

Playing around with our updated software and redid our James Bond Home Theater Design. Bond is probably the best movie theme to work with because it has so many iconic graphics, characters and imagery. I can't think of another movie that offers this kind of material for a themed home theater.

I recently upgraded our rendering software. The general lighting and illumination is quite realistic. Still need to work on my chairs a bit. But for those individuals who are into the real world properties of lighting and how it "bounces" around a room, the program gives you amazing control over the parameters.

The renderings make our Home Theater Designs look that more appealing.

About a month ago I recieved an email from a gentleman who lived in Syracuse who loved our work but didn't think we could work together because we were located in Florida. I replied to him that the distance was no problem...we ship our panels throughout the country.
I didn't hear back from him for a while, figuring he wasn't interested anymore. Well it turns out he's an accountant, so he had to wait until after tax season ended to address his theater.

So here you go, we aren't using our decorative acoustic panels but the room looks really sharp.

Been working on a different type of project. We are using three designs for one theater. The client liked the way one of our collages looked. It combined an image of theater with our Under The Sea theme with a theater showing one of our Traditional patterns. She asked if she could use both designs in her theater...plus she wants movie posters on the back wall.
Well after about 15 different renderings,we came up with the attached image...looks pretty good if you ask me. We're adding window imagery onto the Under The Sea images to make it look like you are looking into an Aquarium.

Can't wait to see the final Home Theater Design.

Home Theater Rooms

We've had a quite a few inquiries recently about our Angled Curves design. This rendering, shows seven 30"x60" panels in a 12.5' x 18' x 8' theater. Normally I'll show this design with darker walls, but decided to show it in a lighter color, which I believe compliments the art very well.

I also decided to place the two rear panels close to each (1" apart). This arrangement makes the room a little more interesting and less symetrical (in a good way).

Here's a look at a potential project in California. The client started the conversation by saying she wants a very simple design, not too busy. I initially sent her a rendering showing a simple design with vertical stripes. After she spent a little more time looking at our website, she said that she like our Universal concept...go figure.

So here we are working on this not so simple design for her Home Theater. Still much to be discussed, but she likes our progress.

Home Theater Design - Universal Theme

I'm working on this Universal theme for a client. Apparently, someone wanted to redo their theater and basically sold everything in their existing theater (including acoustic materials and chairs) to my client.

So for the past few weeks we have been examining different images and color themes. I finally came up with this arrangement to match the clients blue chairs. I must admit that the Home Theater Design looks quite stunning.

Home Theater Design - Original Art

I created this rendering for a potential client in California. It's a nice sized room, but they are on a limited budget. To save money, we eliminated any wood work...replaced by fabric wrapped panels..

The client wanted to use a combination of coffee and olive colors to go along with our Dancing Ferns design. At first I wasn't sure about the color combinations, especially how the olive would look with the Dancing Ferns design, but I must admit that I was pleasantly suprised by the final look of the room.

Hopefully the client will agree and sign off on the project.

Home Theater Design - Rock and Roll Album Covers

Just completed a really cool little project for a Dealers showroom. He's obviously a big Rock & Roll fan (as I am)and wanted to highlight this passion via a large decorative acoustic panel featuring his favorite albums.

He sent 15 album covers for me to scan. I can't remember the last time I even held an album...so sad...those were the days. Anyway, the dimensions for the albums are 12.25" x 12.25". Unfortunately, my scanner is only 11" long, so I had to scan each cover 4 times to capture the entire album. The overall size of the print is 40"x 60".

One of the cool parts of the project was that the Dealer wanted to keep the worn out look of the covers. However, I still wanted the colors to look vibrant. So I had to juggle tweaking the image just enough so I didn't eliminate all those glorious imperfections.

Can't wait to see the final print.

Home Theater Design - Wine Cellar

I often say that your Home Theater is a great vehicle to showcase your true passion or hobby.

If you are a wine affecionado what better way to share your dedication to the grape than to express yourself via a Wine Themed Home Theater.

We recently helped design a theater using a great panoramic image of a wine cellar. We divided the image into 6 panels and even placed the clients name on one of the barrels to make it appear that it was his cellar.

It was a challenge to find an image large enough to accomodate all the panels in the theater. The client requested a custom 10'x4' sized panel on the back wall, to go along with the five 4'x5' panels on the side wall.

Fortunately, we were able to find an image that nailed the concept and was large enough for our application.

We are actually working on another Wine Themed Theater and will discuss this when we are further along.

When Designing Your Home Theater Don't Forget the Acoustics

When I speak to A/V Dealers about our acoustic panels they typically tell me that the vast majority of their clients budget is spent on the audio and video equipment.

Well if you are investing at least $10K on your equipment you need to consider the acoustic environment that you are placing this equipment in. The typical room will most likely be made up of several hard surfaces that will contribute to the room sounding like an echo chamber.

Indeed, here in South Florida many of the homes are relatively new and have high ceilings and tile floors. A discusion between 4 people can sound like a concert at MSG.

So any investment in a Home Theater that features great equipment must also budget for acoustic treatments. The most common and easy to install treatments are acoustic panels. The panels absorb the sound waves, basically eliminating the waves from bouncing off all the hard surfaces in the room.

In the past the acoustic panels were made with muted color fabrics which lead to many a fight between the wife(and/or Designer) and the husband. Fortunately, we have created Acoustic Panel Decor that can enhance the aesthetics of the room as well as the overall sound environment.

Home Theater Design Concepts

Home Theaters allow people to create a room that reflects their true personality. Many of our clients take advantage of the opportunity to use their theater as a way to show their family and friends another, more dynamic, side of theme selves.

We recently worked on a project for a fairly conservative professional lawyer, who happened to love James Bond. We eventually created a very colorful and slick "Bond" theme that defied his outward appearance.

The best way to create a themed Home Theater is via the use of acoustic-friendly prints that just happens to be our core product. The prints, which are wrapped around acoustic panels allow us to create any theme while maintaining the acoustic integrity of the high-end equipment that is used in most Home Theater Designs.
